Nuremberg weather is typical of the rest of Germany, and most specifically the southern parts of the country. In other words, Nuremberg weather is classified as temperate with very little fluctuation in monthly temperatures. On the downside, weather in Nuremberg is also typically unpredictably; sudden downpours remain a possibility at any given time of the year, and precipitation tends to reach its peak during the summer season.

Located in the Middle Franconia region, towards the south of central Germany, it was inevitable that Nuremberg would share the same weather patterns as the rest of the area, which is renewed for the numbing coldness of its winters. Commencing in December and running all the way through March, winters in Nuremberg are predominantly cold although on the odd occasion the sun manages to penetrate the dark clouds that hover over the city, tinting conditions with an almost springtime feel. Daytime temperatures linger just above freezing point for much of winter’s duration, occasionally followed by light snowfall. Because of Nuremberg’s southern location, harsh and widespread overnight frosts are rather common.

The emergence of spring brings along a welcoming change in Nuremberg weather. Temperatures slowly begin to rise peaking at a daytime average of 10°C / 50°F during March, and at just above 15°C / 59°F during April. By May, trees burst into leaf and flowers are at full bloom; finally weather in Nuremberg is at its absolute finest and most pleasant.

Summertime weather in Nuremberg is mostly warm, occasionally becoming rather hot. For most of summer, temperatures hover around 28°C / 82°F or more. However, summer is also Nuremberg’s wet season; precipitation levels rise considerably thanks to the affecting the overall levels of humidity.
